1. Our Commitment
Atlas Media Limited opposes all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced or compulsory labour, and child labour. We are committed to conducting business ethically and with integrity and to continually improving our systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not occur in our operations or supply chains.
Although we are not currently required to publish a statement under the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, we voluntarily do so and adhere to its principles.
2. Who We Are
Atlas Media Limited is a UK-based media production company with a head office in Newquay, Cornwall, delivering development, production, post-production, and delivery services for brands, broadcasters, and NGOs.
Our workforce consists of a core team supplemented by vetted freelancers and contractors, including producers, directors, DOPs, sound and lighting technicians, editors, colourists, and animators.
Typical suppliers include equipment rental companies, post-production facilities, studios and location providers, travel and accommodation services, catering, security, and other production-related providers.
3. Policies and Governance
Atlas Media Limited maintains the following policies (available on request):
-
Code of Conduct (suppliers & freelancers): prohibits forced labour, trafficking, exploitative recruitment fees, retention of personal documents, and child labour; ensures fair pay, safe working conditions, and right-to-work compliance.
-
Recruitment & Right-to-Work: we do not charge recruitment fees; we verify identity and eligibility to work in the UK for employees and relevant contractors. Original identification documents are never held.
-
Whistleblowing Policy: confidential channel for staff, freelancers, and suppliers to raise concerns without fear of retaliation.
-
Health & Safety Policy: ensures safe working environments across sets, studios, and offices.
-
Safeguarding Policy: provides additional protections for children and adults at risk.
-
Anti-Bribery & Ethical Conduct Policy: zero tolerance for bribery, corruption, or coercion.
4. Risk Assessment and Focus Areas
Modern slavery risks in media production are typically indirect and may arise in:
-
Temporary labour and long working hours in production environments
-
Third-party services such as security, cleaning, catering, logistics, and international travel
-
Equipment and electronics supply chains, particularly upstream manufacturing
-
Accommodation arranged at short notice
Risks are assessed according to geography, service type, urgency, price pressures, and labour intensity.
5. Supply Chain Due Diligence
Atlas Media Limited applies proportionate checks for suppliers and freelancers before engagement and during contract renewal:
-
Onboarding Questionnaire: captures organisation size, location, labour standards, right-to-work procedures, and subcontracting policies
-
Contractual Clauses: require compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (or local equivalent), cooperation with audits, and immediate reporting of concerns
-
Right-to-Work Verification: for UK employees and relevant contractors
-
No-Fee Recruitment: we do not use agencies that charge workers recruitment fees
Red-flag triggers prompt escalation and potential suspension of work, including:
-
Unusual payment arrangements (cash-only, withheld wages, recruitment deposits)
-
Retention of identity documents by suppliers
-
Excessive hours without rest or below-market rates under coercion
-
Labour sourced from high-risk jurisdictions without safeguards
-
Locked or controlled accommodation
6. Training and Awareness
-
Staff and producers receive a 15-minute induction briefing on modern slavery: recognising signs, escalation procedures, and handling disclosures.
-
Producers and production managers are provided with checklists when booking studios, security, drivers, and accommodation.
-
A one-page supplier guidance note highlights red flags and provides a dedicated reporting channel.
7. Reporting and Remediation
Any worker or supplier who suspects modern slavery should:
-
Report immediately to Samuel Davies or directly to the Managing Director
-
Reports are logged within 24 hours; specialist guidance is consulted, and where necessary, authorities such as the police or Modern Slavery & Exploitation Helpline (08000 121 700) are notified
-
Violations may result in suspension or termination of relationships
-
The safety and welfare of affected individuals is prioritised, and authorities and clients are fully supported for remediation
8. Next Steps (2027–2028)
-
Include anti-exploitation clauses in all freelancer and supplier contracts
-
Request modern slavery compliance statements from studios and location providers
-
Maintain a preferred supplier list reviewed annually for labour standards
9. Approval
